The Tawawami Children’s Project is a non-profit organization founded by a Monmouth County seventh grade teacher and two PTA mothers. Its sole purpose is to assist underprivileged developing communities. “Tawawami” means “Decide, Because it is Possible” in the African language of Maasi.
The Project’s first endeavor is to raise funds for a grammar school in Mwanza, Tanzania where one of the founders spent five months teaching. The current school there is a one room building with very few desks, and on a piece of leased land. Many of the students attend school sporadically and are unable to receive a consistent education due to having been orphaned or affected by the HIV / AIDS virus.
The Project’s goal is to raise enough funds to acquire the land needed and build a boarding school to attend to the educational, medial, and housing needs of these vulnerable and disadvantaged children. The abundance of opportunity and resources in America are some of our greatest gifts. We ask you to help the Tawawami Children’s Project share these gifts with others. Thank you for your support!
